Former Keuka professor sues university for dismissal

A former Keuka College professor is suing the institution, claiming she was fired because of her age.

The Finger Lakes Times reported Tuesday that Stacey Mirinaviciene, who filed the complaint April 18 in the New York State Supreme Court for Yates County, alleged the college used COVID-19 disruptions as an excuse to fire tenured faculty members.

Mirinaviciene, who represented herself, named college President Amy Storey, Provost Bradley Fuster and the Board of Trustees as defendants. In response, the college, through attorney Katherine McClung, denied many of her allegations.

The case and allegations are based on the argument that her dismissal in 2022 was part of a pattern of replacing older tenured teachers with younger, less experienced adjunct instructors.
