Obituary of William Funsch – West Brandywine, PA

William E. Funsch of West Brandywine William E. Funsch, 89, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Lois E. Funsch, to whom he was married for 62 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. Mr. Funsch was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict. Mr. Funsch received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1951; and was employed by General Electric for 26 years, where he worked in management until his retirement in 1986. After retiring, he moved to Virginia to pursue his passion for sailing. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with friends and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Margaret E. Kerr and her husband Michael of Malvern; daughters-in-law, Nanette A. Funsch of Plymouth, MA and Rose Funsch of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; brother, Robert Funsch of Corning, NY; and grandchildren, Kristin, William and wife, Christian, Allison, Wesley, James and Kelsey. He was predeceased by his sons, David J. and Douglas W. Funsch. Funeral and burial services are private.
