Dominion Energy has donated $50,000 to the Midlands Technical College (MTC) Foundation to fund Career Launch Grants for students in high-demand professions such as welder, HVAC technician, automotive technician and nursing.

$25,000 of the gift was made in honor of the retirement of MTC President Dr. Ronald L. Rhames.

“MTC and Dominion Energy share an unwavering commitment to taking our community to the next level. Career Launch Grants can have a life-changing impact, and we are grateful for Dominion’s investment in MTC,” said Nancy McKinney, CEO of the Midlands Technical College Foundation.

Dominion Career Launch Grants will be used to fund tools and equipment needed for training and to cover the costs of licensure and certification exams for students who complete their training.

“Dominion Energy’s investment in Career Launch Grants will help students facing financial challenges get one step closer to their desired career, with a little less worry,” said Keller Kissam, president of Dominion Energy South Carolina. “It is appropriate to recognize Dr. to honor Rhames in this way. He has been a pioneer at Midlands Technical College and an advocate for workforce development who will certainly leave a legacy on the college, as well as on the communities we are both proud to serve.”

“MTC is committed to working with partners like Dominion Energy to strengthen South Carolina. I am deeply moved by their recognition of my retirement,” said MTC President Ronald L. Rhames.
