When is Macy’s expected to close 150 department stores?

In just a few months, at the end of 2024, Macy’s has announced that they will be closing another 50 stores. And according to NJ.com, another 100 Macy’s will go out of business by 2026.

What is the reason again that Macy’s is closing their stores?

I was hoping their first batch of stores would be enough to hit sales. I do not think so.

Unfortunately, the CEO of Macy’s says the locations that have already closed and the stores that will close and close at the end of the year are because they are “underproductive.” The word “underproductive” seems to indicate that not enough people are actually shopping at the department store.

The really big question: Is Macy’s closing locations in New Jersey?

I know you’re hoping that your favorite Macy’s location in New Jersey doesn’t close. Well, Macy’s didn’t mention whether any of its 50 locations would close in New Jersey by the end of 2024. It’s possible that New Jersey Macy’s is safe.

The closest Macy’s to us is in Toms River at the Ocean County Mall and in Freehold at the Freehold Raceway Mall. New Jersey has more than twenty Macy’s stores across the state. Fingers crossed that our Macy’s doesn’t close at the end of this year.
