Tartu Smart Bike program celebrates 5th anniversary with charity bike ride | News

Tartu was the first city in Estonia to organize a city-wide Smart Bike Share program, and to mark its fifth anniversary, a charity ride will be held to support children with disabilities.

The joint ride starts on Saturday, June 9 at 11 a.m. next to Lodjakoja and goes all the way up to sports hall A. Le Coq Sport. Symbolically, the bike ride is five kilometers and is completed at a leisurely pace. Every bicycle is accepted, including yours.

Anyone taking part in the charity ride has been asked to make a small donation to SA Lapsepuue’s bank account or call the charity number 900 6425 to donate €5.

“We strongly believe that the joy of donation is the greatest joy, and that is why we asked everyone to join this 5th anniversary of the Smart Bike Share to support those who cannot move independently,” said Tartu Inner City Bus Transport Manager Novel. Meeksa.

All the money donated will be used to help the children in need participate in an equine therapy camp at the Arma Riding Farm in the beach village of Rutja from June 24 to 28.

The price for the therapy camp is approximately €8,000. Six children aged 5 to 7 are participating, some of whom are going to school this year.

“It is for this reason that the camp and regular therapy are of great importance to them. One of the campers is from Tartu and thanks to the therapy they will have the opportunity to continue independently,” said the creator of Child Mobility. Foundation for Children with Disabilities Sirli Jassov.

Equine therapy is a therapeutic tool for disabled children because the movement of a horse gives the rider the feeling of walking. The horse’s movement patterns are rhythmic and repetitive, which works great for both sides of the patient’s muscle movements and relieves tension in the body.

The birthday ride for charity is supported by A. Le Coq.
