Bands pay tribute to metro area favorites this weekend – The Oakland Press

If you can’t get (or, in some cases, afford) the genuine product, a substitute may be perfectly acceptable.

That’s the case when it comes to tribute bands, who perform the music regardless of the actual availability of artists, and usually with much more reasonable ticket prices.

Plenty of tribute acts will be paying tribute in the metro area this weekend, so you can get your fix with…

• It’s been nine years since the J. Geils Band last came to town, but tribute act Raputa will offer an incredible simulation on Friday, June 7 at 8 p.m. at the Token Lounge, 28949 Joy Road, Westland. The Detroit Doors will also perform. 734-513-5030 or
