The iOS 18 rumor points to a major redesign of iPhone’s Control Center

With WWDC 2024 just a few days away, it won’t be long before we learn more about the new feature iOS 18 has to offer. In the meantime, we continue to hear rumors about the upcoming software update. The latest iOS 18 rumor comes from MacRumors.

According to the report, Apple has tested a redesigned version of Control Center in iOS 18 that will allow users to customize the layout. One of the best new features would be a drag-and-drop system that allows users to rearrange the controls of the Control Center interface. MacRumors notes that this could be an improvement, as the smaller controls can currently only be reorganized through the Settings app.

Interestingly, this report comes a few days later BloombergMark Gurman of Mark Gurman posted on X that the iOS Settings app is getting a new, cleaner user interface that should be easier to navigate. He also claimed that updates are coming to Control Center, but gave no details:

Rumors of a redesigned Control Center have been circulating for years, but it looks like Apple will finally implement them later this year. This would be the most significant upgrade to the Control Center since Apple moved it to a new location with the iPhone X.

Another iOS 18 rumor assumes that Apple will redesign the home screen, so it makes sense if this other interface gets a revamp as well. According to an earlier report, Apple plans to let users move apps freely through the Home screen.

Currently, users need to take advantage of a few tricks to leave empty spaces on the home screen. iPad users can already rearrange widgets anywhere they want, but they can’t rearrange apps freely.

Luckily, WWDC 2024 is just around the corner and it won’t be long before we know everything about iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18 and visionOS 2.
