Lighthouse Recovery Community Center in Manitowoc Opens New Facility

The new Women with Children in Recovery Residence is located at 721 Park St. in Manitowoc.

MANITOWOC – Lighthouse Recovery Community Center will host an open house and ribbon cutting on July 30 to celebrate its new recovery residence for women with children.

Serving people in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties, this nonprofit organization provides resources, education and support to anyone dealing with addiction.

The new Women with Children in Recovery Residence, at 721 Park St., offers a place to live for pregnant women and women with children. It provides a safe, sober home for mothers so they can be with their children while they undergo treatment and recovery.

Lighthouse Recovery will hold an open house on July 30 from 4 to 6 p.m., with a dedication ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Local government officials, including Attorney General Josh Kaul, and a representative from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services are invited to attend.

The event is free and open to the public.

Lighthouse Recovery moved into its new community center at 818 State St. in mid-May. The growing nonprofit’s trustees and board of directors purchased the location after it became available about a year and a half ago. Work then began at the old location at 712 Park St., now the Women’s and Children’s Home.

The non-profit organization supports all paths to recovery and offers support to anyone who has dealt with addiction.

First pile driven for new hotel: The first new hotel in Manitowoc in more than 20 years will be a Hampton Inn by Hilton just off I-43. Ground was broken for the project in June.
