Alexander Goes to Motor City –

Former Okotoks hockey goaltender Gage Alexander has been acquired by the Detroit Red Wings.

Alexander and a conditional fourth-round pick are headed to the Motor City in exchange for center Robby Fabbri after the Ducks and Red Wings reached a deal on July 3.

During his time with the Okotoks Oilers U15 AA team, Alexander posted a 2.41 GAA, .929 save percentage and an 11-1-4 record in the 2016-17 season.

For the 2017-2018 season, he would split time between the Rockyview Raiders U16 AAA team and the Okotoks Oilers U18 AAA team. Alexander then finished his minor hockey career with the U18 AAA Oilers, where he played in 18 games, posting a 2.52 GAA and a .918 save percentage.

Since turning pro, Alexander has split time between the AHL and ECHL as a depth goalie for the Anaheim Ducks organization. He is expected to start next season with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
