Loblaw expands No Frills small format

BRAMPTON, ON, July 4, 2024 /CNW/ – No Frills, Canada’s popular hard discount supermarket chain, today announced the opening of its second small-format store (average 10,000 square feet or less) in the city, this time in Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood. The new location, at 42 Hanna Ave., follows No Frills’ innovative compact format that debuted earlier this year at the corner of King and Shaw.

Despite its smaller size, customers can still find a wide range of groceries here, including fresh produce, meat, baked goods and the signature low prices and offers that are No Frills hallmarks.

“The response to our first smaller store in Toronto has exceeded anything we could have imagined, and has made us even more excited about our newest location here in the vibrant Liberty Village neighborhood,” explains Melanie Singh, President of Hard Discount at Loblaw Companies. “We know Torontonians are looking for convenience and low prices, but sometimes that means compromises in the city center. It was important to us that this location allows customers to have a full grocery shopping experience while still enjoying the unbeatable prices they expect from No Frills.”

Notable features of this new store include:

  • A footprint less than half the size of traditional No Frills locations
  • Consistent price promotions available at all other No Frills stores.
  • Locally produced products, tailored to the preferences of the community.
  • Improved accessibility to affordable dining options in downtown Toronto.
  • Exciting additions include hot dishes, grilled dishes and fresh bakery items.

The opening of the second small store is an example of No Frills’ commitment to providing the best possible value for groceries and offering a selection that meets the diverse needs of Toronto’s communities.
